A few minutes after going live, a well deserved break and using the tippee at last…as it should be.

hen at work

I think it is important to know that our surroundings infect the way we think and therefore influence the result of our work. In one or the other way. WIRED recently announced a Contest: ”Enter Our Saddest Cubicle“ And the results of it look quite depressing:

Well - I think we are pretty happy not to work like that. Which you might know by now.

Does this mean, our work result is better?

I do think so!

crescendo virtuoso

dfo.jpg
.If we would be a band, this is our current line-up:

.

Full members:
Darryl - band leader, conductor, piano
Swen - manager
Thomas - arranger, clarinet
Helmut - trumpet
Nadim - percussion, ukulele
Ines - vocals

.

Regular and guest appearances:
Andreas - trombone
Benjamin (new!) - right now tambourine, later maybe accordeon
Christian (or is he full member? Honestly I dont know…) - flute
HCL - double bass, tuba
Matthew (just starting) - dont know for shure yet, they said he can play many instruments, maybe French horn?
Michael - guitar
Rena (just starting) - backing vocals
Tanja (leaving soon…) - violin

.

The result would sound a bit like these lot: 17hippies

.
+ now 4 something completely different:
In case you would like to learn something new: As we just build the bridge to music, why not read about Mr Paetorius now?
(this has nothing to do with the topic of this post, it just adds a little intellectual spice to it)

ShopWindoz goes public…

Our shiney new teaser site looks cool…and performs the function of getting pilot shops to register.. So far the response has been great with a lot of good feedback on our business idea and also our new brand and design. We are starting to receive both shop registrations and ‘email me’s’ so it looks like the site is doing the job. So a big thanks to the team for making this happen, including doublestandards who made our brand so shiney. Now for the beta…

German word of the week: ’schwierig’

Which I think means ‘difficult’.

Yes I am learning German finally…I have even got a personal tutor, Franka who is fun and a good teacher.

She comes in twice a week much to the teams amusement. They will be sorry though when I understand all the German comments and discussion that go on around me.

Our first corporate tsoosayLabs sign

We now have a ‘branded’ sign hanging on our office wall thanks to Nadim…

tsoosaysign.jpg

I like it, perhaps even more than the real logos that will appear when we get our stencils.

Miss tsoosayLabs

Hooray!
Today, we have increased the percentage of women working at us by 100%.

How have we done this?
Well, it was that simple - simply by ordering a fridge - I could do it, you could do it, everybody could do it.

Take a look at the invoice address - and you see.
miss tsoosaylabs

And DON’T think that there is any kind of correlation between a fridge and females other than pure coincidence.

Why our team works, and why I like working at tsoosayLabs

Just been looking at the prototype, our wiki (trac) and some of the artefacts already coming out of our team. A few things strike me. Firstly the speed and agility of our methods…the fact we have set up a company with all the usual infrastructure stuff (yes even VPN is working properly) in less than 6 weeks AND have started meaningful dev work is unusual. The talent and passion we have is scary and the speed we can move should scare even the biggest of our competitors. I look forward to coming into work now, something I haven’t done in years.

There are some characteristics of our team emerging:

-trust

-openess

-spirit of learning

-care for our users

-focus on the concrete

We kick ass.

tsoosaylabs@night

So - if you always have wondered how hard we work and how our office looks at night (normal working time - sometimes - not always - shouldn’t - but heh, you know how real life looks like), here it is:

tsoosay - abovenadim’s placedesks and desks and desks …our meeting areaour meeting room

Here’s the soundtrack for it:

lastfm Kola Kidnight

lastfm Ocpnight work

And, of course: I wanted to show to all of you my shiny mac illuminated in the dark.
This is really, really nice - and what I love most: I can impress my son with it - well, sort of.

me, my mac and our blog
